David C. Smith has been an active member of NABIP for 20 years, serving in leadership positions at the local, state, and national levels. During that time, he has invested heavily in improving professional development and our association's ability to deliver the best to its members. In his work life, David is Senior Vice President of eBen, a regional benefits consulting firm and agency, working with over 100 coworkers and associates to change the relationship with our clients by raising their expectations and building lasting partnerships. 

David has also been recognized as one of our industry’s top professionals, having been named as the Employee Benefit Adviser of the Year in 2013 and the recipient of the Harold R. Gordon Memorial Award in 2018 – as the Health Insurance Professional of the Year.
He is a North Carolina native and has two adult children.
